Job Summary:

The Earlham Institute is seeking a skilled Laboratory Support Specialist to provide scientific and technical laboratory support to staff, students, and visitors. The successful candidate will assist in the safe and efficient running of the laboratories, ensuring that all samples, reagents, and waste are handled, stored, and disposed of correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Support the development of laboratory tasks and small projects aimed at improving the current service.
  • Ensure good laboratory practice is maintained throughout the Institute.
  • Develop scientific knowledge and understanding of techniques and equipment used in the Institute.

Requirements:

  • Three A-levels (or equivalent) including a science-based subject or previous experience working in a laboratory.
  • Sound IT skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills, including attention to detail.

Additional Information:

  • Salary range: £22,011 to £24,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Full-time contract for 5 years.
