Construction Engineer - Hinkley Point C Project

Are you a skilled engineer looking for a challenging role in the construction industry? We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Engineer to join our team at Hinkley Point C, a major nuclear power station project in Somerset.

About the Role

As a Construction Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the Mechanical Construction Coordinator in the day-to-day engineering, construction sequencing, and constructability for equipment introduction and fitting out of rooms and buildings at the HPC site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the generation of Construction Work Packs to Discipline Lead teams in charge of the free issue installation of equipment.
  • Analyse and communicate work scope boundaries between different parties to maintain construction interfaces.
  • Work with subject matter experts and client-sided policies to define, engineer, and communicate work scope to building teams.
  • Record and maintain work through project changes processes to ensure traceability and good communication routes.
  • Provide and demonstrate positive HSE behaviours, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project.
  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Present constructability reviews using the 3D model and design information to effectively communicate with Building Teams in the pre-planning or post-resolution of construction sequence issues.
  • Liaise with the client, designer, and construction teams to propose methods of performing works to meet sequence requirements whilst maintaining efficiency.
  • Provide insight and expertise to the generation of construction workpacks.
  • Provide construction hot spot analysis for installation works and recommend solutions.
  • Extract meta-data from the PDMS construction model and interpret this in support of the building teams.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree, HNC, or apprenticeship in engineering-related subject or previous mechanical engineering experience.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • Competent in the use of AutoCAD and Navisworks 3D modelling programmes or equivalent.
