About the Role

Hangar 13, an internal development studio of 2K, is seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing server-side features for AAA games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to existing backend projects written in Go and C++.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to design backend solutions for AAA games.
  • Work with the lead backend engineer on strategic solutions for future AAA game releases.
  • Collaborate with game developers to integrate online features into game clients.
  • Work with open source and proprietary software technologies to fulfill backend project technical requirements.
  • Identify and overcome technical and developmental risks and obstacles.
  • Develop solutions using industry-standard methodologies, including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a relevant Engineering field.
  • Solid experience designing robust, commitment, scalable systems using Go, C++, or Java.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational data storage solutions and associated schema design.
  • Experience deploying and managing server components on Linux.
  • A strong commitment to code quality, documentation, and software development standard processes.
  • Good knowledge of software design fundamentals and principles.
  • Ability to learn and master new technologies and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ability to work proactively, autonomously, and efficiently under deadlines.
  • Experience with industry-standard tools (Git, IDEs, CI/CD, etc.).
  • Exposure to at least one cloud provider's infrastructure (GCP, AWS, etc.).

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to web-based UI frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) or an interest to learn such technologies.
  • Experience with real-time multiplayer peer-to-peer or client-server communications.
  • Shipped one or more game titles.
