Role Overview:

Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is currently representing a leading property development company in their search for a Construction Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will support the Senior Legal Counsel - Construction on legal aspects of a broad range of construction projects, contracts, and contentious matters.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Negotiating, Drafting, and Collating Construction Contracts: The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and collating construction contracts and appointments, PCSAs, and similar legal documents.
  • Reviewing, Negotiating, and Drafting Commercial Contracts: The candidate will review, negotiate, and draft a wide array of commercial contracts, ensuring that they meet the company's requirements and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Managing Construction Due Diligence: The successful candidate will manage the construction due diligence process in respect of financings, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to protect the company's interests.
  • Dealing with Construction Disputes: The candidate will deal with early stages of construction disputes, providing advice and guidance to the company's management team.
  • Developing Key Relationships: The successful candidate will develop key internal relationships with MDs and Directors, ensuring that they are aware of all issues that may impact associated legal or transactional work.
  • Providing Routine Documentary Advice: The candidate will provide routine documentary advice to internal stakeholders, where the advice is not being provided by external lawyers.
  • Dealing with Day-to-Day Construction Related Legal Issues: The successful candidate will deal with day-to-day construction related legal issues that may arise, providing advice and guidance to the company's management team.
  • Carrying Out Other Reasonable Duties: The candidate will carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Director - Legal Construction and Senior Legal Counsel - Construction.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 Years' PQE: The candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with construction legal experience.
  • Sound Proven Basis in Construction Law: The successful candidate will have a sound proven basis in construction law and building development projects.
  • Self-Motivated and Proactive: The candidate will be self-motivated and have a proactive commercial problem-solving approach.
  • Team Player: The successful candidate will be a team player with a willingness to help others.
  • Flexible and Organised: The candidate will be flexible, organised, and calm in their approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure.
