Design Manager

Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead the design of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects on our Yorkshire Water Framework. The successful candidate will have a background in water, sewage, and drainage and will be responsible for coordinating internal and external activities associated with civil design.
Key Responsibilities- Design Coordination: Perform and coordinate internal and external activities associated with civil design, including drainage design, in line with client specifications and design standards.
- Design Duties: Prepare design solutions at various stages of a project, including preparation of drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates, as well as document management and attendance at meetings.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate a wide range of discipline inputs, monitor and protect client relationships, plan and program projects, and manage commercial aspects.
- Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with team leaders, senior managers, and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
- Technical Guidance: Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices.
- Team Development: Promote and develop the technical capability of other team members, and encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and behavior.
- Commercial Awareness: Gain awareness of and familiarity with commercial aspects of projects to develop commercial skills.
- Health and Safety: Be familiar with and compliant with relevant Health and Safety regulations and promote a culture of awareness within the team.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by line managers, project managers, or the business.
- Qualifications: Be a qualified engineer and ideally chartered or a member of a relevant institution.
- Experience: Have substantial civil design experience, including drainage, gained through working on infrastructure projects within the UK water sector.
- Skills: Have strong knowledge of the UK Water Industry and Sewer Sector Guidance standards for drainage design, as well as expertise in software design methods such as MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and Civils3D.
- Communication: Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as line management and performance management experience.
- Teamwork: Have a strong team-working ethic and good people skills, with the ability to lead a team and motivate others.
- Continuous Learning: Have a willingness to learn and improve skills, and a positive attitude.
- Organizational Skills: Have excellent communication, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Driving License: Have a full UK driving license.
