Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Compliance Specialist to join our team at Project People. As a VAT Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's VAT compliance and accounting are accurate and up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of the company's new IT system from a VAT perspective to identify potential compliance risks and ensure accurate VAT accounting.
- Problem-Solving: Develop and implement solutions to address any VAT-related issues identified during the review process.
- Query Resolution: Work with the VAT team to resolve outstanding queries and prepare error corrections and correspondence to submit to HMRC as required.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with the VAT team to identify ways to improve the accuracy of VAT checks and embed these checks into the company's compliance processes.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) qualification or recognized qualifications in accountancy or taxation.
- Indirect Tax Experience: Proven experience in indirect tax, including experience with consumers who buy products and services and indirectly pay tax to the government via an intermediary.
- HMRC Experience: Experience of interacting with HMRC and understanding of VAT regulations.
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze problems and apply innovative solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Organizational and Collaboration Skills: Strong organizational and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-moving, complex, dynamic, and technical environment.
