About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing medicines management services to patients within the prison, working closely with a prison service pharmacist to ensure the safe and effective administration of medicines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a medicines optimisation service to the prison, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate treatment.
  • Administer medicines to patients against a valid prescription, ensuring correct administration and providing advice on the use of medicines.
  • Undertake medicines reconciliation for prisoners admitted to the prison, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Supervise assistants in the dispensary, ensuring that dispensing services are provided efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure high standards of work in the dispensary, clinics, and on the wings, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist the Senior Prisons Technician in writing, updating, and monitoring the use of medicines optimisation SOPs.

Requirements
  • NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Previous experience of working in a pharmacy, preferably in a prison or mental health setting.
