Position Overview
At Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, we prioritize a dynamic and adaptable working environment that meets the needs of our employees, teams, and services. This role involves a combination of in-office and remote work as per the established schedule.
Job Title: Operational Flow Consultant
Work Schedule: 4 shifts per week, operating 7 days a week between 07:00 and 22:00.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Regional Capacity Management Team (RCMT) and will be expected to:
- Facilitate the creation of a dedicated communication framework with partner organizations involved in the project, including Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Acute Trusts, Ambulance Services, Local Authorities, and NHS England, while establishing a new communication network for project stakeholders.
- Proactively identify trends in service demand and initiate appropriate actions in accordance with local escalation protocols.
- Make complex operational decisions to assist all partners in managing demand and capacity, utilizing various information sources while adhering to governance procedures.
- Maintain and enhance open communication channels among all healthcare partners, providing daily advice and support to ensure a balanced flow of emergency services.
- Compile activity reports with detailed narratives following periods of increased demand, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Advise healthcare partners on planning available capacity and anticipated demand, ensuring patient care remains unaffected, using established data metrics.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of emergency admission pressures across the regional healthcare system to support effective decision-making.
