About the Role

This is a key position within the RSM outsourcing practice, supporting the growth of the centralised UK, EU and Global VAT compliance capability. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality VAT compliance services to clients, including insightful analysis of VAT returns and timely delivery of compliance engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert VAT compliance advice to clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of compliance services.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of client's business model, supply chain, data and ERP system to provide excellent client servicing and identify VAT opportunities.
  • Manage and develop junior members of staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality compliance services.
  • Assist in building a UK/EU and Global VAT compliance knowledge centre/database for clients and delivery team, enhancing efficiency and improving client experience.
  • Ensure compliance documentation and process notes are up-to-date, reflecting legislative and business changes to ensure accurate VAT reporting.
  • Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve internal compliance processes and involvement in process efficiency and transformation projects for clients.

About the Ideal Candidate

  • Strong VAT compliance technical skills, ideally from a previous European role in practice or industry, with an ability to identify advisory projects from underlying compliance data.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and guide junior members of staff in the compliance function.
  • Effective use of IT, including Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, and experience with Alteryx and similar tools.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to organise and manage time efficiently and effectively, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
