Position Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Professor specializing in quantitative social research to engage in both teaching and scholarly activities.

  • Relevant disciplines encompass sociology, economics, psychology, social policy, and political science.
  • Candidates with expertise in data science, particularly in utilizing big data, machine learning, and natural language processing within social science contexts, are highly encouraged to apply.

Your role will involve enhancing our interdisciplinary research initiatives, focusing on applying quantitative methodologies to address real-world challenges. You will be expected to pursue research funding from diverse sources and demonstrate impactful engagement through your work. Additionally, you will lead modules in our BSc Social Sciences with Data Science or MSc Social Research Methods programs, with potential opportunities to co-lead these programs in the future. The successful candidate will also contribute to the overall functioning and vitality of the department.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant social science field, showcasing advanced quantitative methodologies and a proven track record of research excellence, including a strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.

Experience in applying data science techniques, such as machine learning or natural language processing, to social science inquiries is preferred.
