Overview: Ageas Insurance is presenting a unique opportunity for a Lead Tax Compliance Specialist to oversee the internal and external tax compliance and reporting functions for the Ageas UK Group. This role involves managing various stakeholder relationships, including those with Ageas group, HMRC, and external auditors.

The Lead Tax Compliance Specialist will serve as the primary liaison with HMRC, fostering relationships with the group's Customer Compliance Manager and support team, and managing daily interactions through regular written and face-to-face communication.


Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the submission of Corporation Tax computations and returns, VAT returns, and IPT returns to HMRC, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and deadlines.

- Ensure that tax disclosures in the year-end accounts are calculated according to applicable legislation and accounting standards.

- Provide assistance to Payroll and HR on employment tax matters as needed.

- Maintain documentation arrangements, review, and sign-off on appropriate controls for tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with Senior Accounting Officer legislation.

- Prepare the Ageas UK businesses for the implementation of the BEPS Pillar II framework.

Required Skills and Experience:

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with individuals at all levels, demonstrating persuasiveness, approachability, and a diplomatic approach to challenging assumptions.

- Comprehensive understanding of Corporation Tax, VAT, and IPT, along with a solid grasp of the relevant business environment and commercial awareness.
- Capability to understand, evaluate, and interpret various financial data, with a keen eye for identifying inconsistencies.
- Excellent written communication skills, coupled with confidence in verbal communication. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with directors, managers, external parties (including HMRC), and colleagues.
- Proficient in IT, particularly with spreadsheet software, especially Microsoft Excel.
