We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children and Young Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (CYP IDVA) to join our team at Victim Support. As a CYP IDVA, you will play a critical role in providing vital support and advocacy services to young survivors of domestic abuse, aged 13-25, who are at risk of harm or have already experienced trauma.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments to identify the individual needs of each young person
- Develop and implement individualized safety and support plans, taking into account the unique circumstances and needs of each young person
- Provide advocacy, practical support, and information to young people, empowering them to make informed decisions about their lives
- Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) to ensure a coordinated response to high-risk cases
- Collaborate with other agencies, including child protection and child in need teams, to ensure a comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to supporting young people
- Strong understanding of the issues faced by young survivors of domestic abuse, including the impact of trauma and additional barriers to access
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management principles
- Experience of delivering services to survivors of domestic abuse and/or other vulnerable people
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency framework, prioritizing the needs of young people and their families
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people and their families
