The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional vocational counseling to clients, identifying their unique strengths, resources, and abilities to help them achieve employment outcomes.
- Administer functional skills assessments, review and analyze assessment tests, interview, and conduct observations to develop effective plans for clients.
- Partner with service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services and provide access to successful job placement.
- Monitor on-site job coaching and recommend assistive devices for program and/or service use.
- Participate in training experiences to enhance professional competency in vocational rehabilitation.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Education, or other related human services degrees.
- Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in vocational counseling, job placement, career counseling and guidance, assessment and vocational evaluation, job development and services for employers.
- Knowledge of counseling and job placement of persons with vocational/occupational barriers, including physical, emotional, psychological, and intellectual disabilities.
- Commitment to lifelong learning in relationship to their own professional development.
- Experience working in a team culture that values inclusivity, performance, transparency, and authenticity.
- Knowledge of and experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and racial equity and effective engagement across differences.
- Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook as well as technologies supporting a remote workplace (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
