Position Overview
King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a prominent and dynamic teaching hospital network, recognized for its robust local services and a concentrated array of specialized offerings. Within the Therapies division, the Speech & Language Therapy department boasts a team of over 40 professionals delivering both inpatient and outpatient care across a diverse spectrum of specialties.
We are excited to announce a fixed-term opportunity to become part of our rotational team at the Denmark Hill site. This rotation encompasses various roles within the fields of: Neurology, Medicine, Trauma, Neurosurgery, Surgery, Critical Care, and Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation. Some rotations may necessitate participation in a 7-day team rota.
The Speech and Language Therapy team at Denmark Hill collaborates closely with SLTs across all King's sites and integrates with wider multidisciplinary teams. Under the leadership of the Head of Speech & Language Therapy and Band 8A Clinical Leads, the service provides a well-established supervision framework, including action learning groups, alongside numerous opportunities for professional growth and contributions to both personal and service development.
Key Responsibilities
This role involves providing specialized services to adults experiencing communication and/or swallowing difficulties, including those with tracheostomies. The current opening within the rotation is situated in the neurosciences team, which encompasses neurology, neurosurgery, neurotrauma, and neuro-oncology.
As part of the rotation, you will have the opportunity to engage in FEES or VF and develop competencies related to tracheostomy care.
