Senior Estimator Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our UK South Construction business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project estimates are prepared accurately and consistently, taking into account construction methods and potential project risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Log and distribute tender documents, addendums, and client correspondence to relevant team members.
  • Develop and manage sub-contractor enquiry schedules, incorporating feedback from the tender team and procurement department.
  • Issue sub-contractor enquiries, including scope of works and attendance schedules.
  • Establish competition and arrange production of B/Q's where required.
  • Undertake spot checks on measures and bill descriptions.
  • Chase tender returns and update enquiry schedules.
  • Raise tender queries and develop tender documentation.
  • Assist in the collation of tender risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Produce documents for tender settlement and present clear nett costings.
  • Attend adjudication and make notes of resultant amendments.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the training and development of Estimators and Assistant/Graduate Estimators.
  • Undertake PDP's with direct reports and drive through actions/activities identified in individual development plans.
  • Develop and manage bid budgets to ensure they are kept within budget.
  • Carry out regular tender reviews and review the risk register on bids.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills to accurately evaluate detailed specifications, cost, and risk.
  • Detail-oriented with a thorough knowledge of the latest processes, materials, and costs.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Conquest/Causeway/Coins.
  • Good communication and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Professionally qualified RICS/MCIOB or similar, with at least 5-15 years of experience in construction.
