About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead a project in North England as part of our rapid build prison cells programme. This is a client-facing role that requires collaboration and management of projects from inception to completion, through all RIBA stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects to deliver agreed outcomes and deliverables within time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Guide and coordinate with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives and KPIs.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery and coordination of the project, including client-facing activities.
  • Proactively coordinate with other programme stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to manage overall project and programme interfaces.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are identified, assessed, and integrated into the project.
  • Work with the client and report to the project lead to establish the strategy and delivery for the project.
  • Assist in developing the client's brief, delivery strategy, and lead the design management, procurement, and execution of the scheme.
  • Understand the design process throughout all stages of the project lifecycle and manage outputs and technical aspects as they arise.
  • Produce strategic project programmes and integrate programmes from consultants and contractors.
  • Understand risk management and work with project teams to identify, schedule, and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.
  • Coordinate, plan, and manage internal and external meetings related to the project.
  • Drive the procurement of services and works required to deliver the project, including site surveys.
  • Understand budgets, estimates, and review and challenge contractors' proposals.
  • Provide input into client system safety and project risk assessment and management processes.
  • Lead the management of contract suppliers under the NEC4 suite of contracts, from design and manufacture to delivery and final account.
  • Manage pre-contract design development and post-contract scope changes efficiently.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in project management, managing small to medium-sized projects.
  • Developed communication, presentation, and project planning and development skills.
  • Developed budgetary oversight expertise.
  • Advanced proficiency in communicating, coordinating activities, and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Proven understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to support the client/customer focus.
  • Proactive management of internal budgets and fees, delivering agreed outcomes.
  • Proficient knowledge and expertise in specific industry/sector/market of project/role.
  • Relevant technical qualification/certification for project portfolio/s.
  • Sound technical expertise in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) rules and specific sector/market regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry/sector/markets and an understanding of required specialism/s.
  • Knowledge of consultancy, construction, infrastructure, and property sectors/markets and an understanding of estimating, scheduling, contracts administration, procurement, commercial controls, and reporting.
