Job Summary
We are looking for a 4 sessions per week Salaried General Practitioner to manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
- Ensure the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary.
Other Responsibilities
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines.
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Active GMC registration.
Experience
- Experience of working within a nursing team.
- Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.
Desirable
- Experience of working in primary care.
- Experience of working in a GP practice.
