As a leading centre for paediatric care, we provide comprehensive services to children with complex neurological conditions. In this role, you will play a vital part in improving the lives of these young patients by helping them achieve their full potential.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each child, focusing on their functional independence and participation in daily activities.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and speech therapists, to ensure holistic care for our patients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior occupational therapy staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives, including the implementation of new treatment modalities and the evaluation of existing programs.
  • Stay abreast of current research and best practices in paediatric neurology and occupational therapy.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in paediatric neurology, particularly acquired brain injury.
  • Extensive experience working with children with complex disabilities and neurological conditions.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise occupational therapy staff effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of child development and the impact of neurological conditions on this process.
  • Understanding of national initiatives and legislation pertaining to Health and Social Care and their relevance to occupational therapy provision in a tertiary setting.
  • Previous experience in leading service development, including auditing of standards.
  • Expertise in utilizing outcome tools to demonstrate the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions.
  • Awareness of professional development issues, NHS reform, legal and professional issues related to child protection, inclusion, privacy & data protection.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working with newborn babies, including premature infants.
  • Active involvement in clinical support networks relevant to paediatric occupational therapy.
  • Experience in teaching and training.
