Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Development Management Planner to join our Planning Service team at Oldham Council. As a Graduate Development Management Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the Development Management team in processing planning applications, providing advice to applicants and stakeholders, and assisting with the investigation of alleged breaches of planning controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as case officer for small-scale planning applications, providing timely advice to applicants, agents, councillors, and the public regarding planning issues raised, and ensuring website content is accurate.
  • Support the administration work involved in processing planning applications, including data entry, document management, and correspondence.
  • Assist with the investigation of planning enforcement complaints, working closely with colleagues to gather evidence and prepare reports.
  • Develop knowledge of the UK planning system and associated processes, staying up-to-date with changes and developments in the field.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Town and Country Planning (or related subject) or be actively working towards this.
  • Knowledge of the UK planning system and associated processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
