In 2017, Gripple and the GLIDE companies undertook the renovation of a historic Grade II listed building, transforming it into GLIDE House. This venue serves as a training academy on the upper floor, while the lower level functions as a social club, featuring a bar and kitchen that caters to employees across all GLIDE company locations.
We are currently seeking to add a full-time culinary specialist to our kitchen team.
Role Overview:
We are in search of a culinary specialist who is passionate about preparing exceptional meals. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the head chef and sous chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, assist in menu development, ensure the quality and freshness of food, manage orders, and maintain stock levels. Reporting to the GLIDE House Manager, the responsibilities will include:
- organizing and managing kitchen inventory and ingredients
- implementing a first-in, first-out food rotation system and ensuring all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
- maintaining well-stocked cooking stations, particularly during peak hours
- adhering to all temperature and food hygiene regulations and completing necessary documentation
- supervising food preparation and presentation to uphold quality and restaurant standards
- preparing large quantities of food to meet quality expectations
- ensuring that food storage units comply with standards and are consistently well-managed
- assisting the head chef in menu planning
- collaborating with management on supply chain, budget, kitchen efficiency, and staffing
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend shifts)
- Morning Shift: 07:00
- Afternoon Shift: 10:00 - 18:30
The successful candidate will possess a proactive attitude in all aspects of the role, with a genuine enthusiasm for culinary arts and a commitment to cooking. A strong emphasis will be placed on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and health and safety. The ideal candidate will also have:
- formal culinary training and experience in the restaurant industry
- a desire to acquire new skills in the kitchen
- prior experience in a restaurant setting
- excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- self-motivation and a positive, enthusiastic demeanor
- the ability to perform well under pressure
- punctuality and reliability
- teamwork skills
- strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and customers
- effective verbal and written communication abilities
- a full, clean driving license
- knowledge of COSHH and HACCP regulations
