Mencap is in search of committed and empathetic individuals to fill the role of Support Worker. This position offers a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of those with learning disabilities.
As a Support Worker, you will engage with a diverse clientele, each presenting their own set of abilities and requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with daily living activities and providing emotional support.
- Fostering meaningful relationships through excellent communication skills.
- Exhibiting flexibility in your schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrating a positive and understanding demeanor towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting individuals with financial tasks such as bill payments and shopping.
- Reducing social isolation by facilitating participation in social groups and activities.
- Assisting with personal care, including preparation for daily routines.
- Prompting medication adherence and aiding with bathing and bathroom needs.
- Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Strategies to enhance the quality of life for those you support.
This role requires a valid driving license and the ability to drive.
Contract Details:
We offer two full-time contracts with varied hours as part of a rolling four-week rota. Our services operate 24 hours a day, ensuring that you can plan your personal and social commitments effectively.
Essential Skills:
Experience in Personal Care, understanding of Learning Disabilities, and ability to manage Challenging Behaviour. Competence in administering medication is also required.
