Estimator Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Orwell Consulting Ltd. As a Senior Estimator Groundworks Specialist, you will be responsible for developing tender strategies and managing timely tender submissions to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing tender strategies to ensure timely submission to clients
  • Assessing and implementing risk assessments within the tender process
  • Pricing jobs using first principles estimating and value engineering
  • Preparing tender sum analysis, pricing documents, and bills of quantities
  • Taking dimensions from drawings as required
  • Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates for complex projects up to £5M
  • Post-tender financial negotiations
  • Liaising with design consultants during the tender process to obtain design information and ensure viable construction processes are adopted
  • Filing tender documents in accordance with standard company procedure
Requirements:
  • 3-6 years of experience in civil engineering or groundworks
  • Experience of carrying out the estimating process from start to finish up to £5M
  • Stable CV and experience in civil engineering or groundworks
  • Education to HNC level as a minimum (or equivalent)
  • Experience of computerised estimating software and Microsoft Office Packages competency
  • Able to estimate using first principles
  • Ability to produce accurate results within a time-pressured environment
