Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our Payroll Manager in administering and processing the salaries and benefits of all employees across the UK and Europe. This role ensures compliance with all relevant insurance, administrative, and tax regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist or process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll for a diverse group of employees operating across the UK and Europe.
  • Ensure accurate processing of PAYE, National Insurance, Pension, Student Loans, Employment Benefits, and Tax payments to the appropriate authorities within stipulated deadlines.
  • Process subcontractor orders, allocate invoices to jobs for approval, and manage payments on RCT and CIS Schemes.
  • Compile aged creditor analysis and assist with accruals.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to new hires and terminations, including calculating statutory payments, RTI submissions, Pension Deductions, P45s, P60s, Starter Declarations, and other relevant forms.
  • Contribute to year-end procedures and maintain accurate employee personnel records.
  • Address employee salary and payroll queries promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in maintaining financial information systems and ensuring the confidentiality of personal data.
  • Record absences, including maternity, paternity, and sick leave.
  • Collaborate with other departments and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar payroll role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws.
  • Willingness to participate in international payroll courses.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple processes, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel (including pivot tables and Macros).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure effectively.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with Brightpay/Sage payroll systems.
  • Familiarity with Balance Sheet / Trial Balance preparation.
  • Level 5 qualification in business administration or a related field, such as payroll management.
