**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hot Fire Test Technician to join our team at SJM Recruit Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the designated 'A' person during Hot Fire Testing programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Safety:** React to issues with the engine or the test site
- **Support to hazardous operations:** Ensure the safe execution of high-pressure gas and fluidic systems
- **System setup and calibration:** Verify the correct feedline pressures, data acquisition system, and thermal imagining camera setup
- **Data review:** Review recorded firing data and identify areas for improvement
- **Site preparation and maintenance:** Support lead Test Engineers in preparing and maintaining the test site, including propellant handling, sampling, and analysis
- **Instrumentation and equipment maintenance:** Maintain and operate mechanical and steam vacuum systems, instrumentation, and electrical and electronic measurement and testing equipment
Requirements:
- **Experience:** High-pressure gas and fluidic systems experience required
- **Interpretation and understanding:** Ability to interpret and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- **Measurement and testing equipment:** Use of electrical and electronic measurement and testing equipment required
- **Flight hardware handling:** Ability to work with and handle flight hardware, including preparation, installation, and removal
- **Standard operating procedures:** Ability to interpret and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and prepare and interpret method statements
- **Process improvements:** Support lead Test Engineers in implementing process improvements and site modifications
- **Mechanical fitter/practical engineering skills:** Mechanical fitter or practical engineering skills preferably gained from an apprenticeship or from within an engineering-related organisation
- **Risk management:** Responsible approach to risk and ability to manage own workload
- **Attention to detail:** Attention to detail and commitment to improve quality and efficiency
- **Continuous improvement:** Seeks continuous personal improvement, adapts to different situations, environments, or technologies, and has a positive attitude to feedback and advice
- **Communication:** Voluntarily engages in open communication with team colleagues and line management
- **Stakeholder management:** Works to understand stakeholder requirements and perspectives and can present work positively and with confidence
- **Safety-first approach:** Uses a safety-first approach to comply with legislative and company Health, Safety, and Environment requirements
Work Environment/Conditions/Physical Demands:
- **Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE):** Frequent use of RPE and chemically resistant clothing to handle potentially hazardous substances
- **High-pressure gas systems:** Work with high-pressure gas systems
- **Electronics and High Voltage equipment:** Some work with electronics and High Voltage equipment required
- **Medical examination:** Role requires passing a periodic basic medical examination
- **Manual handling:** Manual handling and ability to climb ladders and work outdoors in all weathers
- **Noise level:** Working in high noise level environments requiring hearing protection
- **Chemicals:** Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints, and other chemicals
- **Flexibility:** Flexible outlook; will occasionally be required to work late, weekends, etc.
