Job Summary

Alderman Jacobs is a vibrant and popular three-form entry school with its own pre-school located in a market town. The school was rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, with inspectors reporting a welcoming and happy place where pupils enjoy their learning. The school works collaboratively with other schools and has a supportive Trust.

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support children in their learning, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and to work 1:1, with small groups and whole classes as required.

This exciting role will include:
  • Working under the direction of the teacher to carry out pre-determined tasks to support pupil learning
  • Establishing and maintaining supportive relationships with individual pupils or small groups to ensure they understand and can achieve their tasks
  • Providing learning support as required for children with special needs, or where English is not their first language
  • Assisting with the care and support for pupils, including attending to their emotional and/or physical care needs
  • Responding appropriately to disclosures or concerns which relate to the well-being of a child, following school policies at all times
The ideal candidate:
  • Level 2 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent
  • Good educational background, including 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above, including English & Maths
  • Calm and caring nature, with previous experience of working with children in a similar role
  • Knowledge of how to support children's learning
  • ICT skills, including Microsoft packages
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills with staff, children, and parents
