Job Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Visiting and Health Protection Policy team as a Policy Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of policies that protect people who access adult social care and the staff and carers who support them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) guidance and policies that protect people at highest risk to infectious diseases while ensuring their wellbeing.
  • Support the development of future pandemic preparedness plans for adult social care.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure the sector is informed on the latest guidance and advice.
  • Identify further opportunities to embed good IPC across the sector.
Person Specification

We are looking for a strong team player with an ability to confidently work across different teams and functions to develop evidence, gather views and develop policy recommendations. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of adult social care and IPC.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • The ability to grasp complex policy areas and adapt policy to ensure it aligns with recent developments, evidence and the latest government priorities.
  • Highly motivated and comfortable working independently with excellent time management skills.

Working Arrangements
