Job Summary:As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an assigned student who requires individualised support in a mainstream or SEN school setting. Your role will involve assisting with their learning, helping to overcome barriers, and fostering a positive educational environment that meets their specific needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-to-one support for a student, assisting with their academic progress and personal development.
- Work under the guidance of the class teacher to help implement tailored learning plans and strategies.
- Adapt classroom materials and lessons to meet the needs of the individual student.
- Help manage and encourage positive behaviour in line with the school's policies.
- Monitor and record the student's progress, reporting to the teacher and SENCO as needed.
- Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the student to encourage engagement and confidence in learning.
- Support the student during class activities and, if required, assist with personal care tasks.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a 1:1 or SEN setting.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting students with additional needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and outside agencies.
- Adaptability and the ability to use initiative when supporting students with varied needs.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in maintaining student records and progress reports.
- An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
