Job Opportunity

The Stephen James Partnership is seeking an experienced Associate to join their Real Estate Finance Team on a potential 6-9 month fixed-term contract.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal services to clients in all aspects of general banking, with a focus on private credit transactions. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing transactions from start to finish, including due diligence and structuring exercises, preparing and negotiating key transaction documents, and coordinating closing.
  • Providing strategic corporate advice as required and coordinating advice from relevant overseas jurisdictions.
  • Working on behalf of sponsor borrowers and trustee agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining good client relationship skills, gaining clients' confidence and that of other professionals.
  • Client development work.
  • Input and participate in pitch/panel presentations.
  • Identifying hot topics and supporting business development initiatives, including client presentations, webinars, and strategic planning.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following characteristics and skills:

  • Qualified lawyer with relevant experience in banking, particularly on acquisition finance and real estate finance transactions, at a leading international or national firm.
  • Previous general corporate banking, leveraged finance, and structured finance experience.
  • Extensive experience working on behalf of borrowers and lenders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and drafting skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to clients, external counsel, and other transaction parties.
  • A self-confident, proactive, and pragmatic approach to tasks and projects, with the ability to take the initiative to drive transactions towards completion.
