Job Summary:

Matchtech is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in a contract role within the Defence sector. As a Senior Engineer, you will work within a dual-function team of 14 professionals, responsible for engineering assessments and supporting the build process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilise computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modelling, and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame), to ensure structural integrity and design safety.
  2. Support manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures and components.
  3. Consider facility and site restrictions for the shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of large structures.
  4. Develop and implement structural steel analysis and design techniques, including report writing.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose and safe.

Requirements:

  1. Expertise in structural steel analysis and design; experience in timber and concrete design is beneficial.
  2. Hand analysis and design techniques, including report writing.
  3. Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
  4. Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame, Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
  5. Previous experience in a production environment, particularly in marine production, would be advantageous.
