Clinical Expertise in Surgical Intensive Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated nurse to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Specialist Nurse in our Overnight Intensive Recovery unit, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a caseload of patients within the surgical intensive care unit
  • Provide expert clinical advice and guidance to patients and colleagues
  • Administer medications, including blood transfusions, in accordance with established protocols
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies in the unit
  • Lead, support, and develop staff to ensure high-quality patient care

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in managing patients in a surgical intensive care setting
  • Ability to teach, assess, and supervise others in a clinical environment
  • Experience in supervising junior staff members

Skills and Qualifications

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical issues and best practices
  • Awareness of clinical governance and risk management principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

Education and Certifications

  • Post-registration qualification in the specialty
  • Mentorship or teaching qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field
  • Evidence of specialized training or certification
