Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of school facilities, including buildings and grounds;
- Perform cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks, along with minor repairs;
- Oversee and support school cleaning personnel;
- Promote health and safety standards throughout the school;
- Manage the movement of furniture and equipment as needed;
- Maintain the overall condition of school premises, furniture, and fittings, reporting any issues to the Head Teacher;
- Conduct small repairs and DIY projects;
- Coordinate larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors;
- Execute daily cleaning and additional tasks, such as litter collection and waste disposal;
- Organize an annual deep clean of classrooms, staff areas, kitchens, and other frequently used spaces;
- Manage the upkeep of cleaning tools and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels;
- Maintain the security of the school premises as the primary key holder;
- Lock and unlock the premises as required, including outside of school hours when necessary;
- Conduct end-of-day checks to ensure all windows, doors, and gates are secured, and lights and appliances are turned off;
- Regularly inspect CCTV and alarm systems, locks, fire safety equipment, and perimeter security, ensuring necessary repairs are addressed;
- Advise the Head Teacher on all matters related to school security and safety;
- Ensure a safe working and learning environment in compliance with relevant legislation;
- Conduct and document regular health and safety inspections, including checks on potential hazards, and report any issues to the Head Teacher;
- Provide safe access to the school during adverse weather conditions.

Requirements:
- Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools;
- Previous experience in a caretaking role within an educational setting;
- Experience in building maintenance;
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage interactions with contractors and visitors;
- Ability to work in an environment with children with social, emotional, and mental health needs;
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.

Additionally, a valid UK Driving License and personal transportation are required. The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris.
