Position: Full-Time DBS-Certified Chefs for Educational and Care Facilities

Location: Various locations across Staffordshire including Stoke on Trent, Congleton, Leek, Kidsgrove, Tunstall, Nantwich, Crewe, and Buxton.

Contract Type: Temporary positions available, with potential for permanent roles following a successful trial period.

Compensation: Hourly rates ranging from £16 to £20, with weekly payment.

As the new school term approaches, we are seeking to hire multiple Enhanced DBS Chefs and Cooks at various levels to assist in providing quality meals for schools, nurseries, care homes, and retirement communities in North Staffordshire. You will be engaged in diverse contract catering environments located in:

  • Staffordshire
  • Congleton
  • Leek
  • Kidsgrove
  • Tunstall
  • Nantwich
  • Crewe
  • Stoke on Trent
  • Buxton and surrounding areas

Requirements:

To be eligible for these roles, candidates must possess an Enhanced DBS check covering both adult and child care, dated within the last 12 months or registered on the update service. If you do not currently have this, we can assist in processing one for you at a nominal fee.

Commute Information:
Given the wide range of locations we cover in Staffordshire, commuting times will vary. Candidates with access to a vehicle and flexibility regarding locations will find this advantageous. For those relying on public transport, we will ensure assignments are accessible via public transport links and provide necessary travel information.

Work Environment:
You will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for vulnerable adults and children. Your role is crucial in ensuring that every individual receives a hot meal during your shifts, regardless of the work setting. The primary environments include schools and care homes, where you will be tasked with preparing specific meal types, including textured meals for residents and children. You may also be involved in serving meals and interacting with clients.

Working Hours:
The majority of our school and nursery clients operate Monday to Friday, typically from 7/8 AM to 2/3 PM. Care homes require coverage throughout the week, including weekends, with hours ranging from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge of stock management and ordering
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
  • Flexibility to adapt to various work environments
  • Experience in managing small teams
  • Capability to work under pressure
  • Enjoyment of flexible scheduling
  • Qualifications in professional cookery (City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or equivalent)
  • Current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and up-to-date allergen training
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a chef
  • Experience in educational and care settings
  • Senior Chef De Partie level or above
  • Personal chef whites and knives required
