Position Summary:

We are on the lookout for a Project Engineer to join our team, responsible for the successful execution of assigned construction and engineering projects at the site level, ensuring adherence to timelines, scope, and quality standards. The role primarily involves the daily management of project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols are understood and followed at all times.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients on a daily basis, maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
  • Oversee subcontractors and their activities, addressing any issues related to cost, scope, progress, safety, or quality.
  • Manage project logistics proactively, coordinating deliveries and equipment movements while considering site conditions.
  • Regularly update the project plan digitally, accurately reporting on progress and delays, and creating lookahead schedules as necessary.
  • Facilitate the execution of Inspection Test Plans to ensure timely sign-off of project components.
  • Organize site mobilization and demobilization, including the management of equipment hire and off-hire.
  • Conduct RAMS reviews and develop or amend documentation as required. Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks, and manage permit systems.
  • Prepare detailed reports and updates for the Project Engineering Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department to assist in the procurement of materials necessary for installations.
  • Compile and submit accurate project documentation, including As-Built drawings and commissioning records.
  • Propose and implement cost-effective solutions to technical challenges, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Manage ongoing snagging of work on site, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to resolve issues promptly.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders, either in person or virtually, and take on the role of chair when necessary.
  • Assume the responsibilities of Site Manager as needed, particularly regarding CDM and subcontractor supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a relevant field, such as construction, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Proficient in IT applications including Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and Teams, with the ability to use VPN and video conferencing tools.
  • Familiarity with current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Project management skills.
  • Basic coaching and negotiation abilities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A background in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or construction.
  • Experience in site management.
  • Possession of a CSCS card.
  • Knowledge of current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installations.
  • Familiarity with related disciplines such as boilers, HV systems, quantity surveying, CAD, planning, SCADA, or BMS.
  • IOSH or SMSTS qualifications.
  • A degree, HND, or HNC in Engineering.

This is a full-time permanent position with a standard working week of Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours.
