JOB TITLE: Transport Operator

LOCATION: Telford

HOURS: 22:00 – 06:30 Sunday to Friday, night shift

Job Overview:

The Transport Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to compliance standards during the dispatch of drivers. This position serves as a vital communication link for drivers to report any defects, loading challenges, or routing inquiries. The effectiveness of this role is essential for the smooth operation of daily logistics, facilitating prompt resolution of issues and ensuring that the day shift is informed of any pertinent updates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the dispatch of drivers, ensuring driving cards are checked.
  • Conduct agency inductions on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate defect rectification and call-outs as necessary.
  • Manage the handover action list from the day shift and provide necessary communications.
  • Relay driver ETA information to relevant departments when required.
  • Analyze and resolve logistical challenges.
  • Address driver inquiries or escalate them to the Transport Shift Manager.
  • Facilitate return-to-work meetings with drivers.
  • Perform vehicle walk-around inspections.
  • Promote a positive and engaged driver workforce.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in administrative roles is essential.
  • Driving experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Navision is advantageous.
  • Experience in a role interacting with HGV drivers is beneficial.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft software is required.
  • Ability to work independently is necessary.
  • Capability to motivate others in a challenging transport environment.
