Senior Scientist Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading research organization in York to fill a Senior Scientist position in Molecular Biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver DNA barcoding results and work with Sanger sequence data
  • Generate sequence alignments and utilize external databases like GenBank and Q-Bank
  • Conduct Phylogenetic and Population Genetic Analysis
  • Provide support and guidance to fellow staff members
  • Prepare and deliver talks, presentations, and training sessions
  • Contribute to and lead bid writing and develop scientific project ideas

Requirements:

  • PhD in Life Sciences (preferably crop-related)
  • Molecular biology skills including PCR/qPCR and DNA & RNA sequencing
  • Desirable skills: nucleic acid-based diagnostics, DNA sequence analysis, and population genetic analysis
  • Familiarity with external databases like GenBank, Q-Bank, and BOLD
  • Strong report-writing, data analysis, and presentation skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
