West Lothian Council is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our Housing Need Strategy Team as a Quality and Development Officer.

This is a rare opportunity to take a lead role in setting the strategic direction and operational performance of the Housing Need Service. The successful candidate will work closely with the manager to programme quality assurance and improvement work, aligning with the workplan of the wider strategy team.

The post holder will take on development opportunities arising from a recent organisational change restructure, creating a new appeals programme, dealing with customer satisfaction issues, and seeking to learn from this to identify areas for improvement.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual with a deep understanding of the Housing Options and homeless functions, experienced in assessing homeless decisions with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent communication skills and the ability to sustain strong partnership working with key partners are essential.

The successful candidate will have access to West Lothian Council's Pool Car Scheme to undertake approved business travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of quality assurance and improvement work
  • Programme a range of quality assurance and improvement work
  • Create a new appeals programme
  • Deal with customer satisfaction issues
  • Identify areas for improvement

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of the Housing Options and homeless functions
  • Experience in assessing homeless decisions with a high degree of accuracy
