Key Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of financial statements, management accounts, and comprehensive reports.
  • Ensure adherence to UK GAAP, IFRS, and other pertinent accounting standards.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, collaborating with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Establish and maintain financial reporting systems that deliver accurate, complete, and timely financial data.

Budgeting & Financial Forecasting

  • Direct the annual budgeting process in close collaboration with departmental leaders.
  • Analyze performance against budgets, identifying discrepancies and proposing corrective measures.
  • Develop financial forecasts and models to support strategic decision-making.

Cash Flow Management

  • Oversee and manage the organization’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity.
  • Formulate strategies to optimize working capital and enhance cash flow.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Establish and uphold robust internal control systems to protect assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Guarantee compliance with all relevant financial regulations and legislation, including tax laws and payroll regulations.
  • Supervise the implementation of financial policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and adherence throughout the organization.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set objectives, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including commercial, sales, and operations, to align business and financial KPIs.

Strategic Financial Planning

  • Formulate long-term financial strategies that align with the organization’s overarching goals.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to guide business decisions and promote growth.
  • Identify financial risks and devise strategies to mitigate them.
  • Prepare materials and presentations for senior leadership and board meetings.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, engineering, or a related field.

Professional Certifications:

Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a financial managerial or leadership role.
  • Experience in an engineering or project-based organization is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Background in a large national or multinational organization.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems implementation or integration is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant accounting standards.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and delegate effectively.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining financial models using Excel or similar software.
  • Experience with data analysis and business intelligence tools such as SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems like Navision or Dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of the business landscape, industry trends, and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Excellent project management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Benefits:

Competitive salary range of £65k to £75k, 25 days of holiday with the option to purchase an additional 3 days post-probation, 5% employer and employee pension contributions, life insurance coverage, health benefits, and a standard Monday to Friday work schedule with early finish on Fridays.
