Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fast-paced and exciting SEN school in Totnes. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping children with moderate to severe learning difficulties access education and reach their full potential.

Job Summary:

This is a temporary position, with the option to become permanent in the future. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver fulfilling educational sessions, supporting students in the classroom and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to work with children in small groups and one-to-one, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Support children with moderate to severe learning difficulties in the classroom and in the community
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to deliver educational sessions and activities
  • Work with children in small groups and one-to-one to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals
Requirements:
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Patience, empathy, and positivity
  • Previous experience in youth work, healthcare, or hospital schools

Please note that all applicants must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided to help you apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £38 plus an annual subscription fee of £13.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the option to become permanent in the future.
