About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Harris Lowe Academy Willesden. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Main Responsibilities
  • Student Support
    • Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring their access to learning and safety in a supportive environment.
    • Collaborate with teachers to develop resources and teaching strategies that cater to students' needs.
    • Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback on their achievements, progress, and needs.
  • Classroom Support
    • Assist with the supervision of students during lessons, playtimes, and lunchtimes.
    • Prepare and maintain resources, and assist students in their use.
    • Undertake record keeping as requested.
  • Relationship Building
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide administrative support as required.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Hold a degree-level qualification or equivalent.
    • Have basic knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and learning barriers.
    • Have some knowledge of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviors.
    • Be aware of Health and Safety issues in the workplace.
    • Have experience working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting their learning.
    • Have experience establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a high standard of written and spoken English.
    • Good administrative and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with team members across various levels and responsibilities.
    • Good ICT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
