Job Description

Job Title: Network Engineer

Job Type: Contract

Location: Onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with strong Cisco expertise to join our team on a contract basis, providing onsite Business as Usual (BAU) support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide BAU support for network infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  • Work onsite to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Support and optimize Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), and network protocols (TCP/IP, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)).
  • Implement and maintain network security measures including firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and Intrusion Detection Systems/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Monitor network performance using advanced tools and respond promptly to issues, ensuring efficient and reliable network operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with Cisco networking technologies, specifically routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless.
  • Strong knowledge of LANs, WANs, VLANs, and network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
  • Familiarity with network security principles and experience managing firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting complex network issues.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are highly preferred.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area

Experience: ~2 - 4 years' of experience with network administration in a Linux or Windows environment

Knowledge: Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals
