Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Procurement Specialist to join our team at Obscurant Recruitment Solutions Ltd. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing the correct products and services at the right time and price in line with MRP requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Purchasing components as required and directed in line with requirements generated via the MRP system, ensuring OTIF requirements are fully achieved.
- Reviewing all data and suggesting changes to buying & stocking patterns to optimize best practice, such as improving stock turns, reducing stock, lead time, and cost savings.
- Ensuring flow lines are fully stocked in accordance with production requirements.
- Attending site visits to suppliers to establish core strengths and build sound and professional supplier relationships.
- Ensuring all purchasing activities are completed in a controlled and professional manner in line with business demands.
- Consulting with suppliers to ensure quality, commercial, and delivery targets are achieved in keeping with the business requirement.
- Providing information and support as required to departmental managers and other internal customers, including delivery dates and pricing for products.
- Proactively expediting outstanding orders with suppliers to ensure there is no impact on production schedules.
- Assisting in the development of suppliers in line with the needs of the business and in accordance with the supplier reduction and rationalisation program.
- Assisting in the reduction of inventory by purchasing parts in an appropriate manner in line with appropriate logistics and inventory replenishment systems with suppliers.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years' experience of working in a similar purchasing role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Ideal candidate will be studying towards the CIPS professional qualification.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with experience of 'Pull Systems' Kanban.
- Ability to read technical engineering drawings and demonstrate good stock control experience.
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken.
- Good negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
