About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Private Client Solicitor to join our rapidly expanding team at Duncan & Toplis. As a Private Client Solicitor, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of wills, lasting powers of attorney, and inheritance tax planning files, as well as working on probate matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting Legal Documents: You will be responsible for drafting legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Managing Client Workload: You will manage your own workload of wills, lasting powers of attorney, and inheritance tax planning files, ensuring that client work is progressed in a timely manner.
  • Probate Matters: You will work on probate matters, submitting IHT paperwork to HMRC and the Probate Registry.
  • Client Communication: You will communicate with clients and third parties via email, letter, and telephone, ensuring that clients are regularly informed on progress and costs.
  • Team Support: You will assist paralegals and secretaries in the team with queries and provide support as needed.
  • Business Development: You will play a key role in business development, identifying opportunities to grow the business and develop new relationships.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: You must be a Newly Qualified Solicitor with a solid grounding in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Inheritance Tax, and Probate.
  • Skills: You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to draft documentation accurately and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience: You must have experience of working in a similar role, with a strong understanding of the Private Client sector.
  • IT Skills: You must have good IT skills, with the ability to operate Office and in-house programs.
