Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) in AML/Financial Crimes to join our internal audit function. This exciting opportunity will be based in either Chicago or London, with hybrid working arrangements available.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead AML/Financial Crime audit engagements across Northern Trust's global footprint, ensuring effective risk management and compliance.
  2. Collaborate with the Head of AML/Financial Crime Audit to drive strategic objectives and maintain a high-performing function.
  3. Support the development and execution of annual risk-based audit plans, focusing on financial crime risks.
  4. Conduct in-depth reviews of AML/Financial Crime/Economic Sanctions programs, identifying areas for improvement.
  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of financial crime controls and provide recommendations for enhancement.
  6. Develop and grow the technical subject matter expertise of auditors, ensuring they are equipped to tackle complex financial crime risks.
  7. Manage stakeholder relationships across the three lines of defense, fostering open communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  1. Strong technical expertise in AML/Financial Crimes/Economic Sanctions Compliance within the financial services industry.
  2. Deep knowledge of US/international regulations and associated guidance.
  3. Professional qualifications, such as ACAMS, are highly desirable.
  4. Experience in assessing/testing the design and operational effectiveness of financial crime controls.
  5. Proven ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders.
  6. Track record of developing technical subject matter expertise in others.
