Job Overview

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Service Engineer to enhance our operations. The successful candidate will be tasked with the testing, repair, and modification of electrical and welding apparatus, either within our facilities or at various client locations.

Work Schedule: Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

Compensation: A monthly car allowance of £450 is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with the Company's Safety, Health, and Environment Policy consistently.
  • Service and repair machinery and related products both in-house and on-site.
  • Complete all repairs and necessary documentation in line with the Company's Codes of Practice and its BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly responding to service calls and ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  • Conduct regular electrical inspections on calibration tools to confirm that products function within established parameters.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts in the workshop to facilitate efficient repairs on all equipment.
  • Participate in training sessions to remain informed about new technologies and methodologies.
  • Complete daily work logs and submit them to the Branch Manager.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the workshop and company vehicle, reporting any damages to the line manager immediately.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proficient in numeracy and literacy.
  • Good health and physical fitness, with particularly strong eyesight.
  • Relevant work experience and skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with machinery and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic devices, and computer hardware/software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment design and production.
  • Strong customer service abilities, including needs assessment and quality standards evaluation.
  • Logical reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of various solutions.
  • Problem-solving capabilities to address complex issues and assess potential solutions.
  • Ability to comprehend work-related documents and effectively communicate information.
  • Conduct tests and inspections to assess quality and performance.
  • Capacity to maintain focus on tasks over extended periods without distraction.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the operational needs of the organization.
  • Ensure a clean and orderly work environment, advising the Branch Manager of any necessary repairs.
  • Effective listening, speaking, and time management skills.
