Supporting Teaching and Learning in EYFS and KS1
4 weeks ago
The Teaching Assistant role in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 department is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and passionate individual to support teaching and learning.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced teaching staff to deliver an individualised package of support to children with additional and complex needs, as well as providing general classroom support. This will include supervision at lunchtime, facilitating a safe and positive dining experience, and promoting positive play.
From 9:30am to 3:30pm, you will support teaching and learning in EYFS and KS1, working as part of a small team to deliver a tailored support package to children with additional needs. This will involve working with children who have limited communication and those with social and communication difficulties, and having an awareness of the impact this can have on children's presentation and behaviour.
From 3:30pm to 5:30pm (5:00pm on Fridays), you will work in our wraparound care provision, including with our Nursery.
We are looking for an individual with experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with limited communication and those with social and communication difficulties. You should also have an awareness of the impact that this can have on children's presentation and behaviour. Experience of working restoratively with children who have difficulties regulating their behaviour is essential, as is the ability to work independently and provide accurate and concise feedback to class teachers.
A full and relevant qualification to work in Early Years is also essential, as is a GCSE in both English and Mathematics at Grades A-C or the equivalent. A current first aid certificate is desirable for the post.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance. Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant): childcare disqualification, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), medical, online and social media, prohibition from teaching, right to work, satisfactory references, suitability to work with children. You must tell us about any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands, or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
