About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Global Regulatory team as a Regulatory Affairs Advocacy Leader. This role will be responsible for tracking emerging regulatory trends and developing insightful thought-leadership on their implications for Mastercard's global operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze emerging regulatory trends in the payment industry, including account-to-account consumer flows, B2B payments, and emerging retail/wholesale cross-border payments infrastructure.
  • Develop and articulate a concise and compelling Mastercard point of view on the regulatory implications of these trends, designed to support regulators' understanding and assessment.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with subject matter experts within key regulators, including those responsible for assessing emerging trends in payments and calibrating a regulatory response.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen Mastercard's engagement with key regulators through education sessions, thoughtful commentary, and practical collaboration on financial innovation.
  • Position Mastercard's senior leadership to share their insights and perspectives through representation at conferences and panels organized or sponsored by relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Participate in Mastercard's global regulatory advocacy team, developing end-to-end strategies that drive alignment across Mastercard's products and services, connecting the dots between regional regulatory efforts and support for Mastercard's overall multi-rail strategy.
Requirements
  • A robust understanding of the regulation and operation of payment infrastructure, and the work of global regulatory standards setting organizations.
  • Curious about emerging trends impacting the regulation of payments around the world, with a demonstrated capacity to rapidly develop subject matter expertise on these issues.
  • A demonstrated capacity to 'think like a regulator', placing yourself in the mindset of regulators and regulatory standards setters to understand their underlying motivations and policy objectives.
  • A demonstrated history of building strong working relationships with regulators as a trusted and valued source of expertise on a range of issues.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and disciplines.
  • Able to analyze and manage complex issues, analyzing them from a range of perspectives, setting clear objectives, and working collaboratively with teammates towards a shared goal.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations to large and/or senior audiences.
