This is an exciting opportunity to join the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service as a Finance Business Partner. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Finance Officer to track the department's cash flow, provide budget management, and produce financial reports.
Key Responsibilities- Support the preparation of key management information, including the annual budget and budgeting exercises.
- Produce accurate and insightful financial reports, including monthly and annual accounts.
- Identify and implement efficiencies in systems and processes to ensure financial controls are adequate and continually improving.
- Provide financial guidance, support, and training to the team.
- Provide cover for banking authorisations and finance systems.
- Ensure sufficient funds are available to cover payments and cash forecasts.
- Prepare the annual report and accounts, liaising with External Audit.
- Assist with the completion of business cases.
- Create financial papers for the Advisory Board, Senior Executive Team, and Audit Committee.
- Provide analysis of future business patterns and trends to inform business decisions.
- Provide regular updates to Senior Leaders on financial forecasts and business trends.
- Develop a cost recovery model.
- Ensure timely payments are made by the payments team.
The successful candidate will possess a professional accounting qualification (full membership of a CCAB body or CIMA) or relevant financial experience. They will also have strong financial knowledge and analytical skills, with experience in reviewing financial performance, challenging assumptions, and understanding budget principles.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as is the ability to work with financial systems and Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
