We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs in a primary education setting.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students' mental health and creating a nurturing learning environment. You will work closely with staff and students to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may face.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teachers in managing the behavior and specialist needs of students.

Requirements:

  • GCSE's/ Level 2 Equivalent in Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.

This role will involve working with students from the primary sector with moderate learning difficulties and ADHD. The successful candidate will be based in the Farnborough area of Hampshire.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please note that this is a temporary position, with the option to make it permanent in the future.
