About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estate Enhancement Operative to join our team at Enfield Council. As a key member of our estate services team, you will be responsible for carrying out internal and external enhancement works within our council housing stock to the agreed service standard and specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out enhancement works, including safe repairs, garden maintenance, painting, and pressure washing.
  • Act as the first point of contact for residents, ensuring a customer-focused service in line with best value practices.
  • Organize and assist in rubbish removal and graffiti clearance from estate areas.
  • Utilize appropriate powered equipment for various maintenance tasks.
  • Act as an onsite presence to promote the interests of residents and the council, reporting tenancy breaches and anti-social behavior.
  • Monitor estate activities to prevent vandalism and ensure security, reporting issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and secure tools, materials, and equipment necessary for estate service duties.
  • Monitor the performance of other service providers within the neighborhood and report to relevant authorities.
  • Identify minor repairs and ensure they are completed to standards within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with council officers, elected members, contractors, and other agencies regarding estate services.
  • Carry out duties in compliance with the council's Health, Safety, and Equality and Diversity policies.
Requirements
  • Possess essential handy person and grounds maintenance experience.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills for understanding, diagnosing, and reporting basic repairs.
  • Experience in public interaction, capable of working individually or in a team across all weather conditions.
  • Flexible, cooperative approach to tasks, including physical activities like climbing and lifting.
  • Knowledgeable about Health & Safety standards relevant to estate work.
  • Committed to providing a customer-focused service while consistently maintaining high-quality standards on repetitive tasks.
  • Desirable knowledge of various cleaning techniques and previous experience in diagnosing repairs for reporting purposes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment to service delivery.
  • Adaptable to change with a proactive, improvement-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, stay on schedule or alert supervisors to issues, and committed to making a positive difference.
