Canterbury, Kent, United Kingdom Canterbury Christ Church University Full time
Department Overview

The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education is dedicated to providing a wide array of high-caliber programs that span both modern and classical fields of study within Arts, Humanities, and Education.

Within this Faculty, the School of Teacher Education stands as a significant academic unit, offering programs across four interconnected domains: Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE), Secondary ITE, Further Education & Skills ITE, and Professional Learning.

The School prioritizes excellence in pedagogy, student engagement, and the overall educational experience, while also fostering a vibrant research and postgraduate environment.

This position is embedded within the Professional Learning sector, which encompasses various programs, including those focused on Early Childhood Studies.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with the Professional Learning team to facilitate undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Studies, including our Foundation Degree and BA (top-up) Degree in this field.

All students are engaged in a minimum of 15 hours per week across diverse 'childhood' environments, directly interacting with children, young individuals, and families.

Instruction is conducted weekly, primarily during evening hours, across multiple locations.

Our Early Childhood Studies offerings feature a pathway specializing in Special Educational Needs, and we particularly encourage applications from individuals who can enhance our team's expertise in this area.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research initiatives within the School of Teacher Education, and for the Senior Lecturer position, it is anticipated that the candidate will assume a leadership role as designated by the Head of Professional Learning and the Head of School.

We welcome applications from those currently in higher education roles as well as those seeking to transition from other sectors.

Work Arrangement

We are committed to promoting flexible working arrangements whenever feasible, and this role supports a hybrid model.

Campus presence will vary daily and throughout the year, aligning with the services provided and the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.

It is expected that the majority of your working hours will be spent on campus.

Application Process

For further information regarding this position, please reach out to the Head of Professional Learning.
